Fuel Price Monitoring Reports
The Commission has been monitoring and reporting Tasmanian wholesale and retail petrol prices since August 1999, and average retail prices for diesel and LPG (autogas) since April 2000, in accordance with Terms of Reference issued by the then Treasurer.
The Commission has been advised by the Treasurer that no further reports will be required from 1 July 2004.
With the introduction of the shopper docket discount scheme, advertised prices do not reflect actual prices paid. This creates a distortion in the information provided in the Commission's reports and hence reduces their benefit to the public.
