The Government tabled the Commission’s Final Report for the investigation on 2 July 2009. In accordance with the Government Prices Oversight Act, the Commission has now released the Final Report. The Final Report contains the Commission’s recommendations on maximum revenues required to recover the efficient cost of providing urban passenger bus services in Hobart, Launceston and Burnie. The Report also sets out the maximum full adult fares required to recover Metro’s costs, and principles for the setting of adult concession and student fares. However, the actual fares to be paid by all passenger categories will be determined by the Government by way of an Order setting out the maximum prices to be charged by Metro. The Order must be made by the end of July and will come into effect 61 days after it is Gazetted.
