Electricity Price Inquiry for Bass Strait Islands
In December 2007 the Treasurer requested the Commission to undertake an electricity price inquiry for the Bass Strait Islands, and issued the
Terms of Reference
for the inquiry. The Terms of Reference required the Commission to determine an efficient cost of supply on the Islands, and to recommend tariff structures to apply on the Islands.
The Terms of Reference were informed by the Tasmanian Government's Review of Electricity Arrangements on the Bass Strait Islands.
The Review of Electricity Arrangements on the Bass Strait Islands - Final Report
was approved by the Treasurer and the Minister for Energy in October 2007. It is enclosed here for completeness.
The Commission released its Draft Report for the
Bass Strait Islands Electricity Price Inquiry
on 23 June 2008. The Commission's
Media Release
is attached here.
The Commission invited submissions on the draft recommendations contained in the Draft Report. Copies of submissions received by the Commission in response to the Draft Report are provided below.
On 29 August 2008, in accordance with the Terms of Reference for the Inquiry and the Government Prices Oversight Act, the Commission provided its Final Report to the Treasurer and the Minister for Energy after considering submissions received in response to the Draft Report. Accordingly, the Commission is not able to publicly release the Report until such time as the Government has considered the Report and requested that it be released.
